IMP Graduate Evelyna Dhamarrandji candidate for the National Youth Awards

On 3 November 2013, Evelyna Dhamarrandji became the first person from Elcho Island to complete a marathon. Evelyna’s experience has sparked a new found love of running and exercise in her community, with more than 30 young aboriginal men and women eagerly applying to IMP to follow Evelyna’s steps to get to NYC. These 30 men and women have also established a ‘Marathon Club’ on the small Island that meets for training twice a week. Due to the wonderful work in her community, and her involvement with IMP in 2013, Evelyna has been named 1 of 4 National Youth Awards finalists in the Health and Well-being category. Winners will be named at the presentation in Canberra on April 11th.
